Only TWO spots remaining, is one of them yours?
Still, going round in circles trying to lose weight? Here is a look beyond diet and training plans to longer-lasting solutions.
Weight Loss: How to Stop Going Round in Circles
Many people are stuck in a vicious circle when it comes to maintaining their ideal weight. A sad fact when it takes so much work and willpower to reach it in the first place.
The main problem is that they forget that there’s more to weight loss than just following a healthy diet and a great new training plan.
When looking to achieve a lasting change in my clients’ body composition, I ALWAYS consider lifestyle factors, such as individual stress levels, sleep, digestion, mindsets, habits, and behaviours.
Everyone’s different – some people get bloated during or after eating. Others undergo periods of diarrhea/constipation or have unpredictable appetite levels, for example.
Other common issues:
While the link between weight loss and these often-overlooked issues may not always seem obvious, they are very much interrelated. Why? Because if you are constantly in a state of disarray or even stress, you will be activating the sympathetic fight or flight nervous system. This makes a fat loss and/or muscle gain much harder than it needs to be.
Looking beyond diets and training
When looking to change your body composition, we need to look further than a diet and training plan. While you may see short-term progress from grinding it out in the gym, your forced willpower will soon start to diminish, making all the effort practically worthless.
That’s why it’s important to adopt a more personalised approach to your weight loss programme. To change your body and, more importantly, maintain your progress forever, you will also need to focus on your lifestyle, behaviours, and mindset.
For example, high levels of stress hinder your diet and/or training programme. Not only do changes in your brain reduce your ability to think rationally, emotional issues around food intensify, causing emotional eating such as comfort eating and binging.
Similarly, if you struggle to sleep, your energy levels are low and the hormones responsible for hunger cues are affected. You, therefore, lack the drive to exercise and stay active. And you feel less satisfied from the foods that would normally fill you up so that you get hungrier when you’re tired.
Treating the root, not the outcome
By solely focusing on your nutrition and training, you are treating the outcome; not the root cause of the problem. Similar to putting a plaster over a splinter, instead of removing the splinter, the underlying issue persists and continues to cause damage.
To stop your cycle of failure to lose weight, I look at the underlying factors that cause you to over-indulge in the first place. I also look to identify why your training is inconsistent and I find useful ways to help you to achieve the results you need.
Once you no longer battle with the behaviours that used to keep you stuck, you will be in a far stronger position to maintain your progress forever.
If you’re sick and tired of going round in circles, only to end up back where you started, and you are ready to lose weight for good, balance hormones, welcome wellness and transform your life.
