Balance your emotional state NO matter what life throws at you
Emotional eating and binge eating normally stem from an emotional or behavioural issue you may have had for some time. Through a healthy nutritional programme, along with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy, we get to the root of your issues and regulate them permanently.
Effective, long-lasting weight loss
Research carried out by Kirsch (1996) showed greatly improved weight loss outcomes when CBT was combined with hypnosis, rather than using CBT alone. And in 78% of people studied, they continued to lose weight when reviewed months after treatment.
We combine this CBT and hypnotherapy approach with a no-nonsense nutritional programme to permanently change the way you look and feel.
Rewire your brain to recognise and regulate emotional eating and binging
Understand why conventional diets, counting calories and following industry fitness advice is making your relationship with food WORSE
Break the cycle with a different protocol that controls your food portions without obsessive calorie counting
Still eat your favourite foods regularly, enjoy life AND achieve your weight goals
Why emotional and binge eating make you worse
Emotional and binge eating are attempts to regulate your emotions from the OUTSIDE in. Compulsive habits are stored in the “survival” part of the brain so it’s vital to rewire these parts so that you focus on the INSIDE instead.
During our work together, I help you to identify why your urges happen, how you can recognise them and, as importantly, you can redirect urges to healthier habits.
Many people waste a fortune on diets and slimming clubs. These often only exacerbate their weight problems by focusing entirely on the things that they are not allowed, without ever looking at the inside issues. It’s unsurprising that many of my clients only wish they’d come to me sooner!
Are you constantly fearful that something bad is going to happen and you won’t be able to cope?
You may feel a racing heartbeat, sweating, rapid breathing or blushing, all typical of our 'fight or flight’ response. Anxiety means we often avoid triggers – an unhelpful strategy that leaves us very unable to cope should the anxiety-provoking situation arise.
Combined CBT and hypnotherapy help you to do away with all kinds of anxiety
Social anxiety (public speaking, meeting new people, job interviews)
Performance anxiety (sport, sex, exams)
Fears and phobias (heights, flying, certain animals)
Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) - worry and worry about worry (hypochondria)
Panic attacks/panic disorder (often a fear of something more serious like a heart attack)
Many of my clients have found that CBT including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is transformational when dealing with the challenges of panic attacks.
Other important anti-anxiety tools I may use are mindfulness and desensitisation using imaginal exposure, with or without hypnosis. These are proven cognitive behavioural techniques that can put an end to panic attacks.
Is this you?
You frequently bring work home
You feel there aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things you must do
You feel tired even though you've had adequate sleep, or you are having sleep problems
You find yourself overthinking problems when you’re meant to be relaxing
You get irritated or angry easily, or you often have mood swings
You are depending more and more on alcohol, caffeine, nicotine or drugs
You have an increase in muscular aches and pains (neck, head, shoulders, lower back)
You have little time for interests
With stress comes untold worry.
Life issues like workload, interaction with others, family breakups, kids, teenagers or bereavement can cause us midlife women untold stress. These “normal” issues are debilitating so it makes sense to adopt coping strategies.
We worry about the future and/or ruminate over the past. We worry about workload, work/life balance and/or relationships – the list goes on and is often worsened by negative 'storytelling’.
“Don’t worry!” - advice we rarely take.
Worry has us randomly seeking solutions to the cause of our stress. It’s an unhelpful strategy that often resolves nothing and only leads to insomnia, tiredness and yet more worry, even anxiety.
The important thing to remember is that it’s not so much the event or action that causes stress. It’s the way we interpret it as something outside our control.
I can help you to understand the causes of your stress and how to respond. Certain techniques help you to replace your old responses with lasting resilience.
If you've answered yes to many (or all) of these, welcome to midlife!
Are you feeling like you don’t matter? Low self-worth or low self-esteem often brings with it depression and anxiety.
Lack of assertiveness is at the root of many self-esteem issues. It also stops you from resolving problems confidently. Over time, many people develop negative coping strategies or 'thinking errors' which, in the end, only serve to reinforce their lack of self-esteem.
Often seek the approval of others to feel confident in yourself
Lack confidence in your ability to make decisions or express yourself
Question your sense of self - who you are?
Have periods of low mood or depression
Learning to trust your feelings, thoughts and behaviours can transform your life as you build on your newfound confidence. And it’s not as difficult as you might think!
An evaluation of your values – establishing what’s important to you in life is a critical starting point.
My consultations help you to fully understand what is going on. I then provide you with the tools to change often long-established, unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour.
We use a combination of cognitive awareness (awareness of your thoughts for what they are), mindfulness, relaxation, assertiveness and problem-solving techniques to bring about permanent change.
Do you procrastinate, plan excessively or prefer not to participate for fear of failing?
Or, on a more general level, do you just know something is “not perfect” but you don’t know why?
Perfection isn't possible
As humans, however hard we try, making mistakes is inevitable. But finding ways to accept imperfection is truly liberating. Believe it or not, soon you will also enjoy the learning process instead of focusing only on successful outcomes.
Not everything depends on being the best. Perfectionism can affect all aspects of your life, from work to how you approach daily issues and your relationships with others
It’s time to re-think and re-appraise the attitude you’ve probably been afflicted with for most of your life. Removing perfectionism from the way you think and live sets you free.
During our consultations, I use cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy to help you to understand what is going on. You will learn valuable techniques to train yourself to look at things in healthier, more positive ways, not just now but for the rest of your life.
Perimenopause is the time leading up to your periods stopping altogether.
It often starts in your early 40s but can be much earlier for some women. 80% of women say they suffer more than one symptom of perimenopause which can often affect work, relationships, mental health, weight loss and family life.
Not sure if you are perimenopausal yet?
Irritability and mood swings
Loss of confidence
What is perimenopause?
Skin changes (acne/dry/itchy skin)
Oligomenorrhea (erratic periods)
Menorrhagia (heavy periods)
Aching joints and muscles
Weight gain (especially around your middle)
Hair loss or thinning
UTIs (water infections)
Headaches or migraines
Reduced spatial awareness / increased clumsiness
Can you say “yes” to some (or all!) of the following;
Is the answer “yes”?
You don't need to go it alone, I can help.
Navigating today’s world can be tough for some children.
With three children of my own, I am fully aware that being young can sometimes present complex, emotional issues. With professional help, many young people find the power to face life’s challenges. They stop struggling and move into adulthood as happier, more balanced beings.
My cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and hypnotherapy techniques are highly effective in helping young people with a wide range of problems.
Obsessive-compulsive behaviour/emotional eating
Lack of sleep
Excessive exam pressure
Coping with change
During our consultations, I use cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy to help children and young adults to understand that what they are going through right now does NOT have to define them forever.
Do your children or teenagers struggle with any of these symptoms?
Louise understood me and made sure my mindset was healthy before we made changes. Her style of coaching is driven with health and wellbeing throughout and that will always come to the forefront of everything she does – very inspiring. I realised I was learning from her with her incredible knowledge shared at each check in.
My eldest daughter really needed some guidance regarding her food choices and to be honest - I think I was more confused on what I should give her or rather not give her? Thank goodness we found Louise who has been such an inspiration on so many levels to us both. When my daughter said - ¨Mom I feel so comfortable in my own skin now¨ I knew we were on the right track. A more compassionate lady who is truly invested in your success and that of your family- you will not meet another Louise and I say that with the utmost confidence.
I have lived with the pattern of unhappiness, weight fluctuation and stress for years and years. I thought I knew it all, the different diets, clean eating, keto, fasting etc etc but never actually got anywhere. After stalking you for a few months, then finally getting in touch I’m finally done with following extreme, rigid approaches to diet and exercise and feel happy, healthy, confident without too much stress. I would recommend to anyone who wants to improve their body, health, relationship with food and life coaching to work with Louise, she’ll show you how! Thank You!
“My life is so different compared to when I started with Louise. I can’t even remember the last time I binged. No longer obsessed thinking about food all the time! And body checking myself everyday. Honestly I feel like I could go on forever about how happy I am that I made the investment to work with Louise.”
In a nutshell, these are the qualities I attribute to Louise:
– unrelenting dedication
– full commitment
– truly knowledgeable
– high spirited.
