Each and every one of us has that drive. The drive to be better. The drive to be accepted and the drive to finally feel enough. We may have different reasons for our drives, but one thing is for sure — we want to fill in any feeling of inadequacy in our lives, and this pushes and drives most of us is this idea that one day we’ll finally be enough.
Having the passion and drive to improve yourself is great. However, there may be times when we do not pursue it in a healthy way. Sometimes, people often go in destructive ways in search of filling in feelings of inadequacy. They tell themselves all sorts of things and lash out at themselves and others for these negative thoughts.
Speaking of which, it may also be the case that it was your environment or social circle who implanted these thoughts to you. You may have been told that you weren’t pretty enough, skinny enough, smart enough, or good enough. This then fills us with shame and fear – two of the worst emotions one can get for their mental health.
Since this day, we have been viewing our entire life through the lens of ‘I am not good enough.
Being stuck in an endless spiral of self-doubt and pity when we should be admiring ourselves.
This is why we need to reframe our mindset. We need to define why we are driven in the first place and this time, let our motivation and drive come from healthy thoughts. The only way we can do this is if we practice enough self-love, dedication, self-respect, and other positive things for ourselves. It takes showing up for ourselves every day and reminding ourselves that WE ARE ENOUGH until we believe it.
Certainly, it may not be easy at first, but with enough practice and repetition, we will be able to turn it into simple habits. With time, we will also believe ourselves to be truly worthy.
You need to realize for yourself just how worthy you can be and how lovable you already are. So, after reading this take time to reflect on yourself and realize how worthy you are of love and respect.
